What we pump

What the truck is set up to do.

Everything Mac Waste Group handles, in the order people ring about it.

01

Septic

Septic tank cleaning

The standard household pump-out. We lift the lid, vacuum the tank down, check the outlet and leave the lid seated properly.

02

Septic

Septic treatment plant cleaning

Aerated treatment systems serviced, pumped and left running the way the manufacturer intended.

03

Septic

Septic tank installation

New systems supplied and installed, sized to the block and the number of people actually living on it.

04

Water

Water tank cleaning

Rainwater tanks drained, cleaned out and refilled, so what comes out of the tap is what you thought was in there.

05

Grease

Grease trap cleaning

Kitchen grease traps emptied and washed out on a schedule that keeps the council and your kitchen happy.

06

Triple

Triple interceptor cleaning

Triple interceptors pumped and washed down, so the last chamber is doing its job and not passing solids on.

07

Car

Car wash pit cleaning

Car wash pit cleaning — quoted before we start, and finished the same day where we can.

What happens on the day

How the day goes.

A phone call, and it is booked

One conversation. You hear what it costs, you hear when we can be there, and that is the booking done.

Finding it is part of the job

Under the lawn, under a garden bed, under a slab someone poured over it. We locate the lid and uncover it before anything else.

Emptied properly, not skimmed

A tank is not done when the liquid is gone. The crust and the settled sludge come out too, which is the part that decides how long before you need us again.

The paperwork follows the load

Tipped at a licensed facility, recorded, and available to you if a council or a buyer ever asks where it went.

The council report is handled

Treatment systems come with paperwork obligations. We do the service and the report together, so nothing is chased later.

The lid goes back properly

Seated, weighted, and safe to walk over. That last part matters more than anything else on this list.

Not the same as the next truck

What you actually get with Mac.

Every job comes with the tracking documentation an auditor needs on file

29 towns across 5 shires - Wellington, Latrobe City, East Gippsland, Baw Baw and Cardinia - from Mallacoota on the NSW border to Pakenham

Same-week service, trucks typically 40 minutes away

Jobs grouped into runs so a septic pump-out in Sale, a grease trap in Rosedale and a vacuum truck in Traralgon are one loop rather than three drives

24/7 emergency call-out answered by local staff; all operators live in Gippsland

Why people ring them

Known in Maffra for turning up.

2001the year they started

Started as "one truck, one farmer, 2001" - Bruce Mack, a farmer with 40 years on the land, still works in the business

Straight answers

The questions we get asked most.

How often should a septic tank be pumped?
For most households it is every three to five years, and it depends on tank size and how many people live there. If it has been longer than five years, or you have just moved in and nobody can tell you when it was last done, book it.
How do I know if mine needs doing?
Slow drains through the whole house, gurgling, a smell near the tank, or wet ground and greener grass over the trench. Any of those means ring, do not wait.
Do you need to find the lid, or do I?
We can find it. If you know where it is, tell us and we are faster. If nobody has looked in twenty years, that is a normal job for us.
Can the truck get to my tank?
Usually. Tell us if the tank is behind a locked gate, down a steep drive, or more than about thirty metres from where a truck can park, and we will bring the right hose.
What happens to the waste?
It goes to a licensed facility and it is documented. Ask for the docket any time you want it.
Do you do the council service report as well?
Yes. Aerated systems have to be serviced on a set interval and reported. We do the service and fill in the report at the tank, so you are not chasing paperwork later.
How often does a grease trap need doing?
Most kitchens run somewhere between monthly and quarterly, and your council sets the minimum. We will tell you honestly if you are paying for visits you do not need.
How much does it cost?
It depends on tank size, access and how long it has been. Ring 1800 895 805 with your address and you get a real number, not a range.
